Japanese treats | Ice Cream & Taiyaki | WAFU • Orlando, FL

One of my favorite quick & easy Japanese treats in Orlando, FL is hands down WAFU. They have Japanese Ice Cream & Taiyaki (sweet & savory options). They are a small shop located upstairs at the East End Market (right on top of Gideon’s Bakehouse – another favorite of mine!). They change their ice cream flavor every week and it’s always really interesting flavors. Last week it was Persimmons which is one of my favorite fruits, it gives me fall vibes because it has a deep honey like flavor with hints of cinnamon, but still a bit fruity. It’s definitely a one of a kind fruit.

They make fresh waffle cones in different flavors, taiyaki ice cream cones and freshly made taiyaki (fish shaped waffle) with sweet and savory fillings. They will always have a vanilla ice cream flavor and 1 weekly flavor and sometimes throw in a special filling for their taiyaki. I got the Persimmon ice cream with a Midnight vanilla waffle cone and the Kurobuta sausage taiyaki (it had mozzarella cheese and scallions inside too).

I really enjoyed the Kurobuta sausage taiyaki a lot, it was super cheesy but the scallions inside reminded me of a Chinese hot dog bun with scallions. It was so savory and crispy!

They also have fillings like Bacon & Cheddar, Kimchi, Tamago (egg), Nutella, Matcha, Custard Cream, the traditional red bean and so much more!

This place would be too dangerous if I lived near by! I also really love East End Market because it’s a chance for small business owners have their own little brick and mortar shops.
